Impact of Attitude on your Health

Charles Swindoll wrote:

The longer I live the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.  Attitude, to me, is more important than circumstance than failure than successes than what other people think or say or do.  It is more important than appearances, giftedness, or skill.  It will make or break a company a church, a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past.

We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude, I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it And so it is with you we are in charge of your attitudes.

I would like to expand with a New Year here and look toward what might be. There are many individuals who live alone, especially those who have been widowed and another year alone can be daunting. However, your attitude about being alone will determine what kind of day you will have.

I constantly teach my clients what you think about you become. How you talk to yourself you become. Your attitude towards every day will be what your day will become.

It can be frustrating when friends or neighbors say things like, just get out there, get a hobby, get involved, and move on. Easy for them to say. Sometimes the feeling of loss, loneliness, and despair can be so overwhelming that all we want to do is be left alone in our misery.

On that note, it is however small adjustments that will change how you feel about your life, your future, and also your present. One moment at a time.

Do 1 thing every hour to make you feel joy, do 1 thing per hour to change your attitude for that moment. It all mounts up and then you take 1 day at a time changing your outlook on your situation and finding joy.

Joy comes from many places, the weather, the wildlife, your pets, your family if you have any, memories that are joyful, and people who make you feel joyful when you think of them.

Even in today’s climate with so many things going on that are out of your control but still affect your mood there is always something to be grateful for, something to feel joy about, and giving yourself an attitude adjustment can make all the difference.

Every day – Find gratitude, find joy, and find a positive attitude that makes you feel good. Then you will feel inclined to seek out hobbies, friends, volunteering, and getting out there. One day at a time.

If you think what you would like to do is not out there, just do it and start a movement of your own and find other like-minded and form your own group.

Get outside for walks in nature there are plenty of walking trails and being out in nature has a great healing effect of course remember our beautiful beaches. There are professionals for those of you who cannot get yourself into a joyful state of gratitude and  I strongly suggest you seek help if you are not making it alone. Otherwise, remember 10%  is what happens to you, and 90% is how you react to it.
